PDF writing

Are there any other pdf writing software/addon that can be used to activate the "send to pdf" in print preview besides adobe acrobat writer?

Adobe products are just too expensive.

Nope. Only Adobe Acrobat is supported for the send to pdf option. However you can use any other pdf creation tools that behave as a printer and just print to the printer and select the appropriate printer.
