PDF stamper?

I am looking to merge 2 pdf, one as a "master" pdf or background, and then put another on top......mainly, doing a mail merge..using Indesign CS3 to create a pdf and then using the data merge from Indesign (just names) and then merging, followed by taking the pdf of the names and imprinting on the original background pdf..............you see if I try to do it all together, things just lock up..(I have about a 1000 clints for such a project [newsletter] and I've tried 300, 500 to merge but still problems.

Someone has mentioned about stamping pdfs. Thanks for your feed back.

If you're going to use snail mail to send these, you can print the newsletter, then run the outer pages through a printer again, printing one address per page in the position where it should go for mailing. Or just use labels - sometimes simpler really is better!
