The small print shop I work for is looking to purchase one of these programs. (PDF Snake or Quite Imposing, regular or plus) We don't have to do much imposition, and when we do it is pretty basic. The most complicated we have to do is putting pages 4up (twice a year) and we don't really have to worry about creep or anything more detailed. We mostly need it for folded booklets, to run a single page 2up, or make a work and turn from single pages.

In the comparisons I've seen both programs do many of the same tasks. There is a large price difference... We've tried the free demo for PDF Snake, but it ran out before we could try very much. If anyone has experience with one or both, what are your thoughts? Pros, cons, etc...

Thanks for any input!

Quite is a powerfull plugin but I have not used it in 4 years. The version I used was Plus and it did every imposition you could think of. It also had a masking tape option that was very handy for last minute corrections before production. Trim n Shift and Shuffle were nice too. I never heard of PDF Snake but I checked the site. Seems work similar in function but I don't see as many features as Quite and I think Quite is a more industry standard app.

Jeez I can't believe they charge that kind of money.
If you want to just do 2up 4up get the Quite Imposing non Plus version. I think its considerably cheaper even after the money conversion.

Ok I just pulled my copy out of the closet. Its version 1.2 and yes it works on Acrobat 6!

Thanks fizzak :)

The only reason we even know about PDF Snake is because one of our associates uses and loves it. Normally I'd be wary about a program like that because we've never heard of it.... and that seems to be the concensus here, too! I wish I could get the 30 day trial to work again (on PC)... I uninstalled and deleted anything with PDF Snake in the name and downloaded the trial again, but it has to be registered online and somehow it still knew that we'd used our 30 days already. (Any suggestions on that??)
