We have begun to see issues when opening Adobe PDF files from the internet. The Open from Current Location is grey and the only option is to first Save to Disk.

There does seem to be a work around to go into Adobe and change a preference to Reset all Warnings; however, we aren't sure what is causing this.

Toni,
I'm having the same problem on my work system. It's been going on since we added the latest Service Pack to Win2K. I've requested assistance from the IT dept and the best they can come up with is RtClk on the PDF page or link, Save Target As, put the doc into a directory and download (PDF folder), then click Open.

I will mark this thread and watch with interest if anyone else offers ideas or solutions.

Suggestion
Right click on internet explorer, go into properties, click on the advanced tab. scroll down to security make sure the check mark is off on "Do Not Save Encrypted pages to disk"

Swagr,
Thank you for the suggestion. In my case, the check mark is off but the problem remains.

We have been working with Microsoft and after much research they are trying to tell us that this change is "by design" from Adobe. However, it appears that if we upgrade IE to 6.0 the problem is resolved. We have also been having this problem with TIFF files opening to MS Imaging. We are still pushing back on Microsoft because when we remove the latest security patch, the problems go away.

It's not by design from Adobe. I think it has something to do with security settings. If you (or your LAN department) change your IE security settings after you install Reader/Acrobat, this problem can sometimes occur.

One step that has always fixed this for my users is to re-install Reader/Acrobat. It has yet to *not* work for them.
