Does anyone know what are the constraints regarding using a program, (VB frontend, Access backend) developed for use on PC's/networks, on a PDA. In other words what am I likely to need to do to the program to make it PDA compatible?

I've never used a PDA (or tried to get the program running on one) but have an enquiry regarding that possibility and I want to, at least sound as though I know what I'm talking about without having to go out and buy a PDA to try it out.

Thanks, Doug.

I think that (didn't tried it):
You can get PDA (palm for sure) emulator
and probably some development tools for free.
(eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 for WinCE from Microsoft)
I think docs for these tools should speak about their capabilieties.

I have programmed(at least a little bit) for both the Palm and Pocket PC's. As far as I know, the Embedded visual tools work fine for WinCE(OS for Pocket PC's), but not for palm. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one...I would be quite interested if I was wrong, but just judging by the name(Visual Tools 3.0 for WinCE), that would not work for palm. Those tools, by the way are free from Microsoft.com. As for using a palm, that is also possible through vb, but you need a 3rd party program. Check for a program that can do this(it's a bit pricey). It's basically a set of controls that are added to your vb program. There is one drawback though, the palm needs an appforge driver can can eat up space on your pda.

Good luck...let me know if you have more questions and if your would use a palm or a pocket pc.
