I've almost completed my first FreeBSD installation! At the moment, I'm trying to get my 3Com Megahertz 574B PCMCIA
network adapter working on this Toshiba Tecra 8000. As suggested in the laptop articles, I verified that the
card is indeed listed in /etc/defaults/pccard.conf. In /etc/rc.conf I've added the line pccard_enable="YES"
and rebooted. At the very end of the boot, I get the following message:

Additional ABI Support: linuxMar 25 11:12:13 pccardd[47]: Card "3Com"("Megahertz 574B") [001] matched

What does it all mean and how do I fix it? I'm a newbie at FreeBSD, so your patience is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, in advance!

let us look at your dmesg output and do things in order:

start PCMCIA

do ifconfig/dhclient

grow runlevel

test with ping
