PCL XL errors! only with illustrator and power point.

hello, I am having problems with a colour laser jet 5500.
getting PCL XL error messages when printing large power point jobs. smaller jobs with text only are fine, but its only with larger jobs from photoshop, illustrator and powerpoint? is it a application issue?

Using another driver with this printer will probably solve the problem. For large or complex jobs, a postscript driver might be a better choice.

Try installing an older printer driver.

Specifically the PCL5e.

Changing to use a PostScript or PCL5e driver will, of course, prevent the PCL XL errors occurring, because these errors are associated with use of the PCLXL (PCL6) printer language.

But changing to use a different printer language can sometimes itself give rise to other problems.

Perhaps you should take note of the exact PCL XL error message(s) (which identify just which part of the print stream is being objected to by the PCLXL interpreter in the device), and report the error to whoever produces the driver (Microsoft?, HP?).
