i am using w2k with hp8000pcl6 driver. sometimes i get a error page containing the following:
pcl xl error page
subsystem: image
error: insufficientMemory
operator: setpensource
position: 235

someone suggested using the pcl5e driver, but i am unable to install the driver. i tried to right click the INF file and select INSTALL but nothing seems to happen (i didn't see hourglass). any kind soul, pls advise on installing the driver.

by the way, i am using a network printer, should the driver be installed on my pc or on the server?

many thanks

Try using another driver ( Windows 2000) ex. the PCL5e driver or a PS driver. Remember when installing the printer to use the add printer, then chose local and then point to the extracted inf file. Afterwards you might wanna change the port type and assign an IP address to it on the network if needed. The PS driver is adviceable to use if printing a lot of complex graphics or PDF documents.

i followed your instructions & was able to print the documents. but somehow the duplex printing isn't working, i had checked the 'duplex unit' in the 'configure' tab and checked 'print on both sides' in 'printing preference'. but it still came out on 1 side.

any suggestions on what could have went wrong?

kindly ignore the duplex problem, cos i just discovered that the printer does not have the duplex unit installed.

and did anyone using pcl5e driver for pcl6 printer encounter this situation of having a additional blank page printed out?

Check that the printer is not set up to make any seperationpages between the printjobs. Also figured that the PCL XL error might occur when a large number of copies is selected for a printjob. A memory increase might help also or decreasing the number of copies for a printjob.

PCL XL Error
Subsystem: Image
Operator: Read Image
Position: 126, 688, different positions each time a print is submitted.

I have a HP Color Laserjet 2500L that will print a test page OK. It will also print small documents with no problems. The user I support is a heavy Power Point user and is coming up with the error listed above anytime he wants to print to the HP 2500. We have a HP Color Laserjet on the network that he prints the same document without any problems. Suggestions? Recommendations? H E L P ! ! !
