Please help. I have a HP LaserJet 9000mfp. This problem is happening when printing PDF files from one of our vendors. The pages are 11x17. The following error prints instead of the document:
PCL XL error
Subsystem: VECTOR
Error: InsufficientMemory
Operator: PaintPath
Position :291813

The position number changes each attempt at printing. The document prints on other printers, HP color laserJet 2500, but not the 9000. I have tried three different drivers and also updated Adobe reader.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Either:

(a) Printer genuinely requires more memory in order to handle this print stream;

or:

(b) Printer driver is generating validly-structured but very inefficient PCL XL print stream, which (even with lots of memory) cannot be handled by the device.

The sample position value of 291813 indicates that the print stream is quite large - and if this is the FIRST page (i.e. no page has yet been printed) indicates that the page is VERY large (in PDL terms), and perhaps (b) is the reason.

Try printing the same document(s) using the PCL5e or PostScript drivers (I assume that the LJ9000 supporrts both of these PDLs).
Many people recommend using a PostScript driver for printing PDF files, as the PostScript language is similar to PDF (both were created by Adobe Systems).

ALternatively, a number of printers (and I don't know if the LJ9000 is one) natively support PDF streams (usually requiring a minimum of 128MB of memory), so you could 'send' the PDF file direct to the printer port.
