I'm trying to print an access report (nothing fancy), when I get this error from our network printer.

subsystem: Kernel
error: insufficient memory
operator: rectangle
position: 35

is this a problem with my pc, my printer drivers, or the printer itself? Is this related to Access? Any ideas?

I've got the same problem here, I have tried both the PCL 6 and the PCL 5e drivers. Any luck on your end?

Thanks

Doesnt sound like a machine problem. But to be sure I would DL the latest drivers from Ricoh. This error, you see it on you monitor, not on the machine, right?
Are you connected directly using a Standard TCP/IP port or through a print server.

Im not sure about Ricoh printers, but on HP Printers its impossible to get PCL XL errors using PCL5.

Kind regards Pysj`n

Pysj is correct in stating that you cannot get a PCLXL error from a PCL5 stream.

The PCLXL driver is attempting to draw a rectangle (perhaps to represent a box on your Access report); the 'properties' associated with this operation include:

- the size of the rectangle
- the pen source (for drawing the outline)
- the brush source (for filling the rectangle)

One possibility is that the brush source has been defined as a complicated pattern (perhaps a dither to emulate a certain colour), rather than NULL or a specific colour or gray-level, and that the printer does not have sufficient free memory to tile this pattern over the whole rectangle.

If you are using shaded boxes in your report, try removing the shading.
