hello,
I would know what are the escape sequences to send to my HP5100 to set my personal paper format which is 80mm*225mm ?

I know the command to select personal paper format and the identifiant of this selection :

<esc>&l#A where #=101 in that case

But how can I define the height and the weight of the paper ?

I succeed to do this with the printer panel :
menu->menu impression->paper=perso
configure personal paper = yes
unit= mm
X dimension = 80mm
Y dimension = 225

I want to do the same sending an escape sequence from my pc.*

Thank you a lot.

My understanding is that when you use <esc>&l101A it automatically chooses the custom page size that has been defined from the control panel of the printer as you can only define one at a time. Therefore everything you want to define will be defined with the single command.

I have never seen a PCL escape sequence for paper weight. That does not mean it does not exist, just that I have not seen it.

have fun,

So you think it can exist only 1 personal paper format ? :(
Normaly my application should manage 2 personal format...

Therfore, with the MS Word I can define personal format and it print good, how does it this ?

thanks a lot

In an operating system you can define many different paper sizes, limited only by hard disk size. Most printers can only handle one at a time through the bypass tray. Some can handle custom sizes in special cassettes. I do not know about your printer but in the HP PCL comparison guide dated 1997 you could only select one.

Of course all the standard paper sizes are still supported at the same time from the appropriate cassette.

This information is based on the printers I (16yrs in printer support) have worked with, there are may more out there that many work differently YMMV.

ok thanks, so in PCL I can't but I listen about the PJL language which can set the variables into the printer. But I didn't found the variable which set the X and the Y of the personal paper format.

I have the "Printer Job Language Technical Reference Manual" but I don't see this variable anywhere :(

Is there someone who know this language ?
