This isn't really a problem, its more of an annoyance. When I start my NetWare 5.1 (SP3) server, during the boot sequence it stops and prompts me for which PCI Slot to choose...

Supported SLOT Choices:
0. No Selection
1. PCI.SLOT_2 (HIN 201)
Choice: _

I choose 1 and it starts up normally. Why is it asking me for this?

Thanks,
Chris

Sounds like it is prompting you for a slot to choose for your network card. Look in your AUTOEXEC.NCF and see whether it specifies a slot when loading the network card. If the info has been transferred to INETCFG, load INETCFG and check in there. -----------------------------------------------------

I have 2 identical HP servers that both run NetWare 5.1. I went into inetcfg on both servers - the server that doesn't ask me to pick a slot says the NIC is on slot 10003 and the problem server says that the NIC is on slot 2. Should I change this on the problem server? The 2 NICs are using different drivers too.

Chris

You can try it, if it is wrong it will only prompt you again for the slot number. -----------------------------------------------------
