I have recently bought a PCI card (With USB and ethernet sockets) to fit to my Asus Series V (WinXP) PC, and was startled to find that although it looks as if the electrical connections will fit OK the chrome bracket by which it is to be connected to the Tower will not. This standard size PCI card is about 10mm too long for the aperture in the tower. I was not aware that these PCI cards came in different sizes, and I am finding it difficult to discover how to order the appropriate card with the smaller bracket. (Asus have ignored my question)
Can anyone advise? Are there just 2 sizes? What are the small ones called?

Well if the tower is a "slim" or small form factor case, then it needs the small form factor card, or low profile. Not all cards, come in small form factor. Look for cards designated for an HTPC (home theater PC) As most of those come with both brackets.

Here is one of the network cards:
Here is a USB 2.0 card, with both brackets:

Thanks for the replies.
I'll look out for a card with both brackets in the UK.
I'll give the article in wikipedia a miss, as I have a life to live.
Thanks again.
