I have 4 Qlogic 2100A HBAs I need to add into a 450. At the moment I only have 3 free 64-bit slots and by the cards size, it looks like they would have to be installed in those.. I do have an old unused ethernet card tying up another 64-bit slot, so I'd like to remove it and put one of the HBAs in its place. My question is, when I add all 4 of these cards into the system in this way, is a 'boot -r' all that will be needed for it to recognize the HBAs? Will that cause the system to recognize that the ethernet card has been replaced by a Fiber Channel HBA? And will the 'boot -r' have any potential to make changes that would affect the current disk arrays and SCSI adapters already present in this 450? As an FYI, I am running Veritas Volume Manager on the system and it does manage disk in the existing arrays..
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
