Two machines on the same network, one Win2000, the other XP. Both running pcAnywhere 10.5.1. The Win2000 box can connect to multiple hosts on our network (Win2000 servers). But the XP machine, using the same settings, cannot connect. Doesn't matter if we use machine name or IP address.

Interestingly, we set up the XP box as a host and were able to connect to it. But it cannot connect at all. I've Googled and gone to the pcAnywhere site but no luck.

Thanks for any leads you can provide.

I use version 10.0.2 with no problems on XP.

IP address and computer name won't have anything to do with it as long as they're both unique on your network.

One thing that comes to mind is the XP firewall. Tried turning it off? Another thing, try turning off whatever type of virus scanner you have.

Have you tried downloading any updates to PC Anywhere using Liveupdate?

As it turns out, changing the encryption level (in the Security Options tab) from None to pcAnywhere solved the problem.

Thank you for your suggestions.
