Current situation:
WIn98 pc uses PCANYWhere to dial into WInNT server modem for remote session.

New situation:
Win98 PC got upgraded to cable modem high speed connection.

Question:
Can Win98 PC still communicate with server using cable modem
1)with WinNT server's existing 56k modem.
OR
2)with Adding High speed access to WinNT server such as DSL or Cable modem access

If 2nd Option is possible over high speed internet, what about security issues?

Couople different options.

Option 1: Keep dialing directly into WinNT box with modem and use cable modem for rest of communications from Win98 PC.

Option 2: Get HS connection for server, firewall it, and use PC anywhere over that connection.

Option 2 has a higher risk of someone finding your server and trying to break in. If you have static IP for the Win98 box you can limit that greatly be only accepting connections on the firewall from that IP. It's a trade off of security and speed.
