pc156rvp modem

have just bought new modem cable belkin f3l903u30 for use with pc156rvp modem but keep getting no dial tone.My old telephone cable works fine, any ideas why it wont connect? have i got the wrong cable?

I'm not familiar with the pin-out of the BT connector, but the obvious answer would be that the pin out is different than your old cable. You can check it if you have a VOM.
