PC will not work when I have battery out and have it plugged into wall. I have a Toshiba Satellite U305.

A lot of laptops won't start up in that configuration :-(

I can contact Toshiba-thoug out of warranty and see what they say-Just bought a new battery.
Also I was not aware that alot of laptops won't start in that config.
Thanks for the input!

I'm not aware of laptops not being able to start with the battery out &connected/powered by AC. That's news to me.

Done it on quite a few Dells FOR SURE, including my own.

TonHu, is that from personal experience? Be good if you could name a few... Like Goom, I see a good few laptops, many Toshiba, and have never experienced one that wouldn't boot with AC and no battery attached.

Can you tell by a light indication on the laptop that the power really IS connected ? As laptops get older, the connector for the AC Adapter can get loose on the internal board, and you may have to put some 'English' - lateral pressure - to get the juice to the computer. On my 10 year old Thinkpad, I have to tuck the power cable from the AC adapter under the laptop to have it tweaked to make a good connection.

Couple of older HP models wouldn't start. Don't use a laptop myself, but a lot of colleagues do, and they sometimes had trouble like these. Current breed of laptops shouldn't have that, but maybe consumer laptops do (it seems to be cheaper to manufacture)
