I am having an issue where my PC won't turn on. No lights, no sound, no nothing. I have checked the power outlet and the power cord, but they both work fine. I don't necessarily want to start taking stuff apart. Where would be a good place to start troubleshooting besides what I have already tried? Do or do not, there is no try.

Have you checked the power bar or UPS if there is one?

Kimber There is no such thing as a dumb question. Only a dumb mistake because you didn't ask...

Most probably the power supply unit as you do not have fans or LEDs which usually work with other problems. Some PSUs have a fuse inside that can be changed, however if you take it apart be EXTREMELY careful. There are high voltage capacitors in there that do not require the power to be connected to hold a charge, if you inadvertently short out one of those you can do yourself a serious injury. Just touching one with a metal tool or bare skin is enough to set it off. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

If you have a network card installed I would try powering up with it removed. A dead card can keep it from booting and I find it is usually the network card most often because it is least likely to be surge protected.
