My pc won't connect to the internet after a power outage. The other pcs in my home have no problems connecting so I know there are no problems with the router. I've tried ipconfig and can't find the ip address or any of the data. I would greatly appreciate any help to fix my pc.

Oh...I am also not to savvy when it comes to computers so if you need more information you'll have to tell me where and how to get it. Thanks!

Wired or wireless connection to the router? Have you checked device manager for the network card, and made sure windows didn't drop the driver? If wired, do you get any lights on the port at the router or switch? Are there any lights on the port of the PC? What does happen when you do an ipconfig/all? what do you see from a cmd prompt if you enter netsh <enter> this should bring you to a netsh> type interface <enter> so you should be at: netsh interface> type in show mode <enter> it should respond (enabled). if it does type ipv4 <enter>. this will bring you to netsh interface ipv4> . At this prompt type show config <enter> and it should show the ip address of the computer and the gateway and some of the metrics in the config. we can give more direction, when we get some more information.

If router is working, look at explorier setting make sure it not set to work off line

Never give up never give in.

There are no short cuts to anything worth doing :)

Do the following steps one at a time so that you know which, if any, is the problem. Test after each step.
[ul]
[li]At a command line type: ipconfig /release then when the that is completed type: ipconfig /renew.[/li]
[li]Swap the network cable for one from a "working" computer.[/li]
[li]Move the network cable on the router to another port in case the power outage caused a problem with the port.[/li]
[li]If still not working then, at a command line, type ipconfig /all and copy and paste the output here. Also copy and paste the ipconfig /all info from a "working" computer.[/li]
[/ul]

Hope this helps.
