My new PC will not boot up. It powers on and thats it. The monitor goes into stanby. No beeps. Just the sound of the fan. Any ideas ?

If it posts then there should be a series of beeps. If you know who made the bios then the beeps can be used to figure out what is causing the problem. The first thing you might want to try is removing everything except the processor, ram and video card. See what you get when you do that.

As OSUMAN says it is probably just a loose card or conector, possibly the graphics card, before you take everything out and run it bare I would just try and reseat everything first.
Perhaps resetting the bios to default may also be an option. Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!

Is this a system you purchased complete? Like a Dell or Compaq? If so, then make sure that breaking the seal on the case wont do any harm to your warranty. If thats not a problem, or if this is a system you built, then I agree with paparazi.
