I have made my system unbootable.
I had a 15Gb disk divided into 4 partitions in the following order:
Name Size Description

- 1GB unallocated
- BOOTMAGIC 70 Mb Bootmagic partition
- Bretts Volume 8Gb data partition
- WINXP 5Gb Windows XP and some programs

Bootmagic was not enabled so the PC booted straight into Windows XP

I intended to allocate some more space to the WINXP partition and began by using Partition Magic to move the BOOTMAGIC partition to the front of the disk, so the order became: BOOTMAGIC, unallocated, Bretts Volume, WINXP.

I then tried to reboot to make sure everything was OK, but it was not.

If I use the Bootmagic rescue disk to boot from the WINXP partition it gives me the message

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
<window root>\system32\hal.dll
Please re-install a copy of the above file

If I point to the BOOTMAGIC partition I get the message

Invalid System disk
Replace the System disk and press any key

I used the Partition Magic rescue disks to move the BOOTMAGIC partition back to the original spot, but still get the same messages.

Are there any suggestions as to how I can make my system rebootable?
Is there anyway I can reinstall Bootmagic

Also when I boot from the Partition Magic CD and try to run BootMagic it gives me the following error after I select English as the preferred language (the same seems to happen with any language choice)

PQ Boot – Version 8.0

Run Bootcfg from the Recovery Console and fix your Boot.ini so that it points to XP.
