We are in the process of upgrading PCs from Win 2K to XP sp2. Since the OS upgrade, users are getting this message when they open Peachtree Complete 2006:
-----------------------------------
"Peachtree has detected that a newer version of the pervasive database is installed on your computer. Version 0.0 has not been tested with Peachtree Accounting. Do you want to run Peachtree with this unsupported version?"
-----------------------------------
The installations are all stand-alone single user. None of the computers are networked in any way, and are spread all over the state of MO.

I'd really appreciate any guidance on how to proceed.

The time's I've seen this are when an upgrade to 2007 or 2008 was involved. Worse yet it is usually a fatal error. I have reasons to run several editions of Peachtree so I see it.

What I think has happened is that you installed something that uses a newer version of Pervasive which is the database manager for Peachtree (understand they are changing). The path is finding that new version and trying to run it.

I've tried a lot of work arounds on this one but none seems to work.

Don't think it has anything to do with the oporating system, however.

Bill,

I appreciate your help.

I am not at all familiar with Pervasive, much less what other software uses it. Since the problem so far has come up on only two out of maybe twenty installations, I'm wondering if some imaging product is the culprit.

Can we reinstall Peachtree with the old version while keeping the newer version for whatever is using it?

Thanks again,
Gina B.

A demo version of Peachtree might be the problem, too. Peachtree has published some suggestions about this but I haven't had much luck with them, Supposedly you can turn the new Pervasive off. I've found you have to remove the Pervasive and then reinstall Peachtree. And that dosn't work well.

I put a question on the Tech Tips Pervasive forum. That didn't bring any help just confirmation of the problem.

Bill,
The user has backed up the data and it sounds like they burned a copy of the whole Peachtree program. I've asked them to bring the computer to me. Uninstalling & reinstalling Peachtree is easy, my biggest concern is maintaining data integrety.

I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks again,
Gina B. [sunshine]
