Article on taxing new PC sales ( In Germany ) to compensate people for copyright infringment.


Somehow, I don't think the money will get to the people that are really effected by copyright infringment. Most of it will end up as bureaucratic waste, and used in other gov programs..

agreed! This just goes to show that if we let too many business men rule the country the real people are not protected.

Many record labels have shown record profits in the last couple years despite Kazaa, Napster and the like. Gary Haran
 
TheVampire, I think you are quite right. In Holland, this compensation exists for cassettes, CDs, etc. Anything you can record music or data on.

This means that if I record the music played by my own band, I must pay sombody else to record my own music on my own cassettes.

So who's the criminal here?

(Hint: not me!)
