Printer is an HP PhotoSmart C4280 connected via usb to pc, Operating system is Windows XPPro SP3, Computer is an Dell Dimension 4600i.
I have uninstalled the printer several times, I have reinstalled various versions of the printer driver.
Whenever I print to this printer I get Windows Installer popping up wanting to install a feature that is not available. It wants "G:\ Market Research". My Logical Disk Management has changed the disk "Letters" so G: no longer exists.
If I "cancel" the request twice the printer continues and prints.
I have tried various things and I do not want to reformat the HDD for this annoyance.

I didn't see a solution in that thread or did I miss something!?!

With any of those repeating installer attempts/errors with HP products, I always uninstall all the software that was put on by the installer, reboot. Then I run CCleaner temp file cleanup & registry cleaner, reboot again. Then I download the latest software for your O.S. from the web site (don't use the CD that came with your product) as it is the most up to date.

I suffered from this problem also. The link from Sympology had a link to download MS Fixit. I used it and it deleted my Market Research install request. I can now print with no interruptions.

Sorry, it wasn't a direct link but a few replies down was a Bob Laredo reply in HP Support Forum>Printer/All-In-One>Print Install/Setup>marketresearch.msi file missing"

Note, this worked for XP, and the printer is working fine with no more messages.
Go here to download Microsoft Utlity: MS FIXIT
Download it and then run it. Select automatic and the install problems choices. After it runs, it will ask you to select a program. Select Market Research. As it uninstalls the program, another window may prompt you about another HP shortcut. Ignore it, do not browse to search for it. Then it will say the shortcut no longer works. Choose to delete it.

It will then finish up after another few minutes. Reboot, and your programs will print just fine without any more error messages.
