I recently obtained an IBM PC Server 330 8640 PBO. I replaced the PII 266 processor and terminator with a pair of PII 333 Mhz processors and a second VRM. When I boot I get an error message that the second processor is detected but not supported. The system recognizes the processors as PII 333 Mhz. I installed RedHat linux and it recognizes two PII 333MHZ processors. Does any one know how to correct the boot problem error. The problem is that when booting I must manually acknowlege the error to continue booting. I believe I can select unattened mode but whis to know why it complaines. Thanks

Make sure you BIOS is latest level which is 28A.
The processors have to be the same speed and cache and you have to have the jumpers on the processor card set correctly.
See the HMM 10l9158.pdf for more info. (go to and use the search box top of the page to search for that HMM file number.)

Thanks, ibmtech65. I removed the two PII 333s and installed two PII 266s, set the jumpers and everything worked. Reinstalled the PII 333s and set jumpers and now the 333s work, I must have missed a jumper the first time.
