PC Searchs for A Drive 1

Recently whenever I am using file manager or opening and closing programs the A drive is engaged.

Also on boot, the A drive is searched for a long period, 20 to 60 seconds.

To stop the searching I often just push in a blank floppy, wherein the drive then stops searching and goes back to normal Hard Drive ops.

I can't recall doing any procedure to cause this.

The normal boot sequence is:
"C", Hard Drive, "A", Floppy drive, then "D", CD drive.
