Greetings to all of you!

Yesterday my PC was working perfectly. This morning when i switched it on, it powered on but before i could get the boot screen it switched off and then restarted by itself. But i get no sounds, no display at all. I tried switching off and on again. Once it booted and gave me the screen we get when Windows did not start normally during the previous session. I chose to restart normally but it couldnt. It said drivers could not be found. Since then it just starts, switches off and then restarts with no display at all. I've got a D-bracket for USB ports which has 4 LEDs on it. 3 of them are giving a red light and only 1 green/yello light. I've disconnected it and my DVD-writer from motherboard but still same problem. Please help.

Sounds A-typical for a classic Power Supply Problem.

When the power supply has problems instead of completely becoming inoperable, often the power fluctuates and this can cause even worse problems. The hard drive can get read/write errors, the Memory can Fail or you might get the famous STOP errors.

It can be other things, but it might be the power supply.

Other Problems:
Overheating
Fans Failing on CPU/CHIPSET
Plugs loose or not connected
Bad CPU
Bad Memory
Bad Video
Bad Hard Drive or file corruption

Power supply is usually the culprit. One problem is bad power can cause your hard drive to have major problems by causeing file corruption or drive failure. Sometimes it is just the hard drives. If you just cut off the power instead of doing a shutdown this can cause major issues for XP or mess up your operating or file system on the hard drive.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

The problem is solved but i still don't know what caused it. I started troubleshooting by removing all cards and disconnecting all drives form board leaving only RAM and VGA card on board. When I did this the PC powered on with display. Then I plugged the hard disk. I got the same problem descibed above. I thought my hdd was dead but then i decided to check the IDE slots and cables. I changed IDE cable of hdd wiht that of my DVD burner and plugged it secondary IDE on-board. It worked. Then I re-tried primary slot and original cable. It worked!!! Then i connected burner. Again same problem. I removed cable and plugged again. PC powered on correctly. Now where was the problem? Is any of IDE slots failing? Conflict between hdd and burner? Or something else? Any idea?

Might have had a bad/shorted cable, or had it plugged in backwards.
