PC out to Television: No picture but sound ok

HI,
I have our PC connected to our TV but all I see on the tv screen is the video player but no picture, just a black screen, sound is ok.
Im using vlc , windows media player and winamp, winamp works ok but the others dont.
Im using coolstreaming but winamp doesnt seem to wantr to work with it.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

What are you trying to play (type of video)?

Have you tried lowering your screen resolutin in Windows?

What version of Windows?
