What OS?

On some, maybe all, the adapter settings will allow you to turn off the adapter to save power. What happens if you don't allow it to turn off?

I would think that SLEEP mode trumps all power saving modes for the adapter, but you could go into device manager and disable the power saving feature under "allow computer to turn this device off to save power".

I always disable that feature.
Same thing under the USB root hubs.

Star go goombawaho from me, b/c I forgot about the option under device manager. I've probably only looked at it once or twice. That's probably somewhere else I need to look here at my new job for laptops at our office since they rarely move.
