Have heard that the Mac operates different gamma to PC - and that should be accomodated when preparing graphics for the web. Know little about Macs (except that users adore them) and web search didn't throw up any practical solutions.

Can anyone provide more information, and if it is a real issue, make suggestions on how to prepare graphics so that Mac users are not offended by hideous pics?

Many thanks.

No difference between them is so great that anyone but you will notice if your graphics' colors are off. I do believe that PS sets up some type of system to better enable you to make sure your colors on your monitor are close to what it will look like. Anyway, the only way to be perfectly sure is to use "web safe" colors -- a 216-color palette that all browsers are supposed to render exactly the same. Personally, I don't think its that big a deal. If they're using a 16bit+ resolution (which almost everyone does) then nobody will notice any discrepancies.

Thanks for being so postitive!! Feel much reassured.

Just in case it makes a difference to your response though, am stuck with not always using a web-safe palette. Basically am illustrating old military badges and in the 1880's the designers weren't too worried about how they would look on the internet! Accuracy is important which is why I am worried about the Mac adding another possible variation.
