Hello -

Here are the system specs:

ASUS P4S800, 1 Gig RAM
2x80 gig HDs (Prim. and Sec. Master),
2 x 200 gig HDs (Prim. and Sec. Slave)
Win XP Pro SP2.

When in XP, the system seems to be running fine. However -
Everytime I reboot, I get a message indicating that the Primary Slave Drive (the 1st 200 Gig HD) needs to be examined for disk errors (i.e. scandisked/chkdsk).. Right now there is nothing on it, so not much of a big deal, but once I am in XP, occasionally the drive reads as "The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable". I will reformat the drive (again nothing on it yet). It formats fine. Disk Manager reports drive as 100% healthy. I test-copy files to and from it. No problem. but once I shut down and start again, Windows asks to scandisk/defrag the drive! Its getting a little annoying. Any way to disable this message? I will scandisk in Windows (usually reports no problem anyway)

thanks

Two things to check:
1. Replace the IDE cable to the drive in question.
2. Download and run diagnostics from the drive mfg. website.
