Dear All
I am working on P4 PC. When i double click any file to open, it takes at least 30 seconds to open. it is also slow when I delete or copy a file. But when I disconnect the network cable it works properly. It also work fast when I open an application like excel and then click file -> open -> file. This situation happens randomly daily. I checked the processes but there is no such process that takes more memory. It sends bytes on network when it tries to open the file.
Please help me.

This sounds like a slow anti virus program checking everything as it is opened? The worst culprit for this is Norton AV. Try testing by disabling your AV to se if that is the cause.

PC is still slow inspite of disabling the AV.

To get further information about any possible errors look in your Event viewer.

Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.

Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.

Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on these sites.
