I am running Win98. The PC in logged into a Novell 4.11 network, Lotus notes using TCPIP and a second AS 400 using Client Access (TCPIP). When attaching or detaching files the PC locks up. The window showing the available drives never opens up. The only thing that works is the mouse pointer and CTRL-ALT-DEL which brings up the task menu but will not access an additional input from the mouse. The PC has multiple drives mapped incl one on the AS 400. Rebooting the PC will not clear the problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

One of our users had a similar problem - it turned out that the network-card settings of his PC weren't correct (set to half-duplex and a strange transfer rate). Unfortunately I am not a network-guru so I can't explain in more detail (the settings of this users PC were corrected by our network-guys).

We've had problems with AS400 drives and attachments before. Basic if the user had previously attached a file from an AS400 connection then when next attempting to attach a file the PC hung. I'm not 100% sure if this is the same problem but you easily check by editing the notes.ini and check the following line

FileDlgDirectory=

If the path is located on an AS400 drive change this to a local path or simply eg (c:\). Make sure notes has been closed before you retry.
