I've got an Ximeta Netdisk (USB2.0/ethernet) 160gig formatted NTFS.

Am I going to have issues plugging it into my little brothers PowerMac 7300/200? Do I need to partition it and set aside some Fat 16 or 32 space for the Mac to use?

It won't be connected via ethernet, as he's using OS9.1 and Ximeta only supplies drivers for OSX, but I assume the USB should work fine.

Do I need to worry about the formatting of an external HD on a Mac?

You will need to initialise (partition and format) the disk to HFS+. Probably best done with the Mac utility (if a disaster of 70Gb of data loss through using Silverlining is anything to go on). I don't know if you need drivers for Classic but I would assume so.

Andy.

Can partition magic handle this? Can I use my free space to create a mac partition?

I'll give it a shot, I guess that I should "backup" to my computer just to be safe.... not sure if I have enough room to though...

No I don't think PM does HFS+, or any Mac format. The Mac will, I think, read Fat16 but that limits the partion size greatly. The Mac cannot partition part of a drive, it's all or nothing.

Andy.

ohhhh.... alllllrighty then.
Thanks for the help!
