Do any of the desktop support people out there have a form that they use to capture description of PCs, that they'd care to share? You know, with spaces/check boxes for system name, form factor, CPU, RAM, DASD amt, OS, SW, etc. Word format would be nice. Thanks!
If you download belarc advisor it will automatically query the computer and create an HTML page with all the info that you can then save for later reference.
I'm going to be censusing the PC's at a small-town library, very mixed bag. Probably won't have internet access while doing so, will only have paper tools to use during. I could write my own - just thought I'd ask.
I'll try that belarc advisor idea - maybe I can save the output to a floppy.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Belarc and SiSandra will give you the info you need. Both are free but Belarc is newer and I think gives better descriptions. You could put both on a CD, load one or both on the PC from it.
