I have posted this is the OS forum, since I'm unsure what the fault is excactly. Since I installed Vista on my machine, it sometimes closes down program, services and drivers. The most common error, is the screen gets all weird. A lot of pixelerrors (blinking pixels, whole windows freezes og disappers and windows becomes unresponsive. I can move the mouse though but can't click anything. It then sometimes says, that it had to close the graphic adaptor driver and starts it again. I then have to hard reset.
Sometimes it says it needs to close a service or application, even if the computer is idle.
First I suspected the graphic adaptor, but when Vista is shutting down services, it sound like a driver problem?

Real life needs a mucical score.

Sounds like a memory problem.

could be both...

I would go about it the following way:

first thing to do, would be to update the GFX drivers, or try older ones...

if that does not alleviate the problems, then try another card...

and if you still have the same problems, then do a full Memtest...

if all those bring nothing, then suspect the OS... here you could test it by installing onto another HDD...

How to ask a question, when posting them to a professional forum.
Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

Doing a full Memtest (using like Memtest86) would be the cheapest and quickest without having to crack open the case or mess with drivers. ;)

This leads me to believe it is either an OS problem or a graphics problem. Vista is heavily dependent on the graphic card, it could be inadequate or simply overheating. Testing with the case open (you don't mention the make/model/specs of the machine and if it's a discrete GFX card, always of interest) and a room fan blowing into the case will tell you if it might be overheating.

Can you replicate the problem? Have you tried running a benchmark like SiSoft's Sandra to see if you can force the fault?
