sometimes when I turn my pc on it makes a lot of beeping which sounds like the noise on a supermarket checkout, it almost sounds like I am playing an old atari game or something, if I press reset on the pc the noise goes and everything starts fine. It mostly happens when I am restoring my pc with norton ghost 2003

The beeps that you are hearing are the result of a test you Bios performs when the PC starts up. As to what the beeps mean it differs from Bios to Bios. If you want to find out when you start the machine take a note of the manufacturer and version number of your Bios and then visit that manufacturers website for details of what each beep sequence is for.

The test your computer is doing is called a POST (Power on self test). It tests the devices, etc. Different beeps indiciate different things, e.g. one long beep indicates no RAM or cannot read any RAM.

Follow the advice of gpalmer711 and visit the manufacturer's website.
