We r having network consisiting of IPx & IP. Dos based application are on Novell 5.0. Exchange service, IIS DHCP, WINS, Proxy etc. on 10 Window NT 4.0.

The desktop are having Window95. While shutting down the PCs, a message is appearing "xx ( xx like 1, 2, ...34) users are connected to your PC".

Sometimes pCs are hanging also or other window based applications r not executing.
Can any body tell us about this peculiar probelm.
The message about having users connected when you are trying to shutdown is caused by other computers connecting to that workstation for file and/or print sharing. This can be caused also by simply having another computer map a drive to the workstation you are shutting down.

To prevent that from happening, turn off file and print sharing on the workstations and move any files you need to share onto the server (also adds security to the files if you are concerned about that) and move the printers to either a server or put them directly on the network wire.

I'd need a little more detail about the programs that are hanging... What is the program, what other programs are open at the time, system specs (RAM, CPU, Hard drive space used and remaining)... There really are a million different reasons for programs hanging.

Again, I'd need more information about programs not executing... Are you getting any error messages when you attempt to open the program, what happens when you try to run the program from Start - Run or from the command prompt. What program is it, has it ever run before, have you tried to reinstall it?
