pc anywhere and gateways

Hello,

I just started using pc anywhere and I already have a problem. I have several PC's running different versions of windows. I also have linux running as a gateway. How do you communicate through a gateway. Is there a difference in which direction you are going? Meaning going out of my home network VS trying to get into my home network from another site?
