Hello,

I have experience working with CM and just a bit working with Avaya Partner, it doens't seem to be complicate but I am wondering... what is the easier way to administrate this box? PC or set administration? I haven't try the PC administration because I am not sure if I need a software to do it... if so, what sofware do I need, where can I download it? do I need a special cable to connect to the unit using a PC? please advise!

It is far easier and faster to program from the set at Ext. 10 or 11.

The PC Admin requires software that you download from the Avaya support site, it is a point and click GUI, which takes forever to make a lot of changes (from all the mousing around)

For release 1 through 6, it requires a modem connection to the Remote Access card in the ACS, which works iffy at best. For R7 and 8, there is an Admin serial port on the ACS, so then you can use a 355-A adapter and a serial port on your computer. (You can still use the RAC modem if you have the card, or you can connect an external modem to the Admin port)

Finally, programming from the GUI means you download the translations from the ACS, make your changes off-line, and send them back. Then you must do a restore and restart to make them take effect, dropping all calls in progress at the same time.
