Had a strange situation w/ my Option 11 yesterday. On two occassions, the PBX performed a full reboot on itself inexplcably. At the time, one of our IT Guys was logged in to the Terminal on site while I was dialing in remotely to join him. Each time I logged in, the PBX rebooted. Never thought a user logging in or multiple users at the same time could have this impact. It could be a coincidence too. Anyhow, I was able to capture some of the on screen info. A portion of it mentioned:

Reset Reason: 80, 4 - Reset due to CP invoked reset

Could not find any further info on this in the Nortel Docs.
Mind you, neither of us did anything to initiate this. We were both heading for LD 11. The worst result would be an Overlay Conflict. Any thoughts on this odd condition would be appreciated. Thx

Whats the software level & system type?. It sounds odd that it's happened twice.

All the best

could be a ssc trying to go bad, anything can overload the processor, are you getting a lot of errors, misc stuff that most people ignore has caused more problems then you can dream of. adding traffic to a second tty port is not a problem, adding another task to a maxed out processor can cause a problem. i had a reboot while doing a new 24 on a new t1 trunk add, wasn't the command, just had a ram loaded, and added the last straw. i would monitor the switch and take care of any problem the switch tells you about.. also out unused tn's and sets, might not be a factor, but good housekeeping is never wasted time

Thx...The only output I see consistently is PRI225 DCH:4 DATA 0000000B...I guess this is a Protocol Error on D-Channel 4. This was actually down the morning of the day when the PBX rebooted itself. I brought it back up. This PRI interconnects our PBX to Rockwell. Whenever maintenance is done on the Rockwell the spans go down. Could this Protocol error problem be associated w/ the reboots? Thx Again

it causes your processor to stay busy, if possible, schedule any necessary down time, and find the reason for that protocol error, you may need serv msg enabled on that d or you may need to take them off. either way constant error processing is not something i ignore. i have been on sites where an ini only happened during upgrades or keycode and parm changes...

In LD 96, I did a PLOG of DCH 4...I got Counter 16 and Value 19. Counter 16 is Layer 3 messages w/ undefined information elements??

can't get a true picture from plog, undef elements are normal, your getting "fields" that the switch is discarding

Can you give me an idea where to set up Serv. Msg on the D-Channel?. I take it this will provide greater detail on the nature of the problem. Also, I'm reading that protocol errors may be caused by an incorrect restart procedure. I've always reenabled a PRI in the following manner:
LD 96 enable TMDI
LD 60 loop
This should bring D-Channel back up w/ out having to go back to LD 96

Is this abt right? Thx

enl dch x fdl is a very helpful command, any changes made on your d do not take effect until after you download the changes to the the msdl.. don't know is the tmdi will take a fdl but it should, i don;t do opt 11's much
