I am announce on technical support on 9.8.2001.
Problem definition:
I am using direct driver to MS SQL Server 7 and I found out
following behaviour. The source of datawindow is stored
procedure, so at retrieve dw generate order:
execute stored_procedure
then SET NOEXEC OFF
problem is, that if is too slow net then this order makes
almost double response time.

Sybase respond:
1. 9.8.2001 - Sybase recorded case number 1409.
2. 15.8.2001 - CASE ESCALATE
3. Sybase is silent.

Answer from Sybase:
I've done some more research regarding the SET NOEXEC OFF issue
and I have not been able to find anything that gives you the possiblity to
set any properties to get rid of this behavior.
And I can't see a reason for doing this.
If you have noexec set to ON, nothing will be executed until you set it
back to OFF. So if you had a setting to make it possible to turn it ON, then
you would be forced to set it back to OFF before you did the retrieve on
the datawindow, ie. you would still have two commands being ran over the
network.

My guess is that PB sets noexec to ON while it does a prepare of the procedure
in order to get the datawindow definition and the sets it back to OFF when doing
the
retrieve in order to be able to get the resultset.

However, I'm still going to try to get some answers from the newsgroups to
confirm all this.
