Hello,

I have a general query about setting up a web site and would appreciate any advice that you might have.

I know html a bit and I've worked in IT for a while now, so I can bluff my way through stuff as and when necessary.

I intend to set up web sites and stuff, but one thing I'm unsure about is payments over the internet.

There is a 'shopping cart' style of web site I've been looking at for a bit of inspiration - I suppose it's OK - you can pick things for the shopping cart and when you're done it creates a little invoice for you and you supply your delivery details and your method of payment - that is you pick the type of credit card you have the number and the expiry date and then you submit the form.

I'm wondering if something like that is OK? I mean, I seem to remember a lot of concern about transmitting your credit card details over the web - and I'm just wondering if I'm looking at it wrong - maybe the site is more sophisticated than it looks - how do you guys deal with that kind of stuff?

Thanks,

Tom
