I've approached my company about getting a Technology Management degree (kind of like an MBA) and they are generally very accomodating if it brings value to the company. My question is, if they pay for all of the schooling will it affect my pay raises?

Once you have a qualification it may well add to your propective pay raises, but bear in mind that you might well be tied to the company or have to repay tuition fees !!!

I am comfortable with they company I work for and wouldn't be too concerned with being tied to them. The idea of more schooling, other than the education of course, is to have that extra qualification for advancement or pay raises but I'm concerned about the short term over the next couple of years while I'm taking the classes.

Depends on the company. It could increase your pay, or they could see it as value which you're receiving in lieu of an increase. As far as being tied to the company, that's something to be aware of if you have to sign any agreement.

Like lgarner said, it depends on the company. Most companies that I have experienced set money aside as an added benefit and this won't effect your pay raise.

Is this something that you could inquire about? Either by asking your manager or your coworkers (who have gone through the education process)?

Ask them.

Really, do you expect someone to be able to answer that?

OK, sorry, let me rephrase my question for you. What have others experienced in this situation? I do plan on asking them, by the way, but wanted to get an idea of what other people have run into.

I've seen it both ways: in a previous post, there was a clause in my employment contract that said I had to repay tuition fees in full for any course that led to a recognised qualification if I left of my own accord within 3 years of completing (ie they wouldn't bill me if I was made redundant).
Of course the ways around this were to take the course but not the exams - so you gained the training but not the qualification - or to pay for the exams yourself.

My current employer has a very active staff training and development unit which offers training courses on workplace related items with no tie in, regardless of the outcome for their standard programme. If there is anything specialised, then they will consider - for example, they are currently paying for somebody to be trained up in British Sign Language, with the clause that she assists my employer in dealing with any deaf people who come to visit my workplace.
