Hello all, i am new to this site so please bear with me untill I get the SOP'S Thanks.

I have and pavilion N3250 that I am trying to get to boot into windows without requiring a boot cd or disk.

Also somthing else wierd is going on allso, It seems that I have to short the CMOS in order to get it to pick up on a drive...But after I do that(short the CMOS) and then default the bios so I dont need to "press f1 to continue"...The computer drops me off at a black screen with a blinking curser..and thats it. Unless I Reset the CMOS and then hit f1 when it prompts me to.. then and only if theres a some kind of boot disk or OS disk in the drive will it eiether begin an install if I want or begin bootup into windows.
I know there will be alot of questions and I hope I explained my problem clearly.
Thanks

There is no such thing as "short the CMOS". There is a set of jumpers that allow you to "clear the CMOS" by shorting 2 pins together and if that is what you are doing to enable the CMOS to recognize a drive you probably have a battery problem.
It sounds line you have a series of CMOS setup errors and those are generally fixed with a new battery.

Thank you...I actually unscrewed the plate on the bottom of the laptop and touched two solder points with a screwdriver to short it....
When you say battery replacement do you mean Like the big removeable battery or is there a smaller watch type battery inside the laptop.

My bad. I skimmed over the model number.
Try a google search for n3250 and cmos. You should hit several sites with info.
Evidently requires memory out and power up to do the job.
