Hi

I have a pavaillion Laptop with a faulty hard drive. Does anyone know where i can get some instructions to help me change the HDD. As i am able to source one, but not fancy paying to get it changed.

Chris

Do you have a manual on this computer? Can you get one from HP? Contact HP online, there may be an online manual you can read.

Its way simple. On the bottom of the case there is a screw that allows the hard drive to slid out. usually there is a small notch to grab and clit it away from the base. It is 2.6 inches wide and you can buy replacements from many places. But I have used compgeeks.com in the past. they have good prices and carry both new and used equipment. So make sure you check what you get before you buy. After you get a new HDD installed you will need to either boot off CD and install a fresh OS. Or if your laptop came with a RESTORE CD. You boot off that and reload your OS. It taks some time but its fun! Good luck!

its relatively easy to change a laptop hard drive, i always buy my parts from a company called tuff computers in kent, mostly they send out next day, always have good stock levels and are cheaper than most, check to get the contact details, hope this helps
