Our current system is the IP Office 403 with Avaya 4412D+ phones. I am trying to create a Short Code to dial a long distance number, pause to wait for our long distance carrier dial tone, then enter the four digit long distance code. I have tried every character that is in the short code help text. Including the "D" and the ",". If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks

Try Y, works similar to D but triggered by different signals from the carriers.

D is triggered by a call connected signal. Y is triggered by a call progress signal from the carrier.

Have seen an example but its in the office.

Thanks guys. The Y was exactly what I needed.

Glad it worked.

Back in the office today and found the original notes:

==========================================================
Using the Y Character

Used to send the digits following the Y character as DTMF tones following reception of a Progress or Call Proceeding message from the line provider. The D character is used to send DTMF digits after receiving a connect message.

For example, the Y character would be necessary at a site where they have signed up with their telephone service provider to withhold international dialing until after acceptance of a DTMF pin/account number that initiates the call proceeding/progress message.

For example:

Short Code: 91N;
Telephone Number: 1NY2345
Feature: Dial

Where did you find this gem? I cant see it in any of the help files. It would be great if Avaya actualy told people about these things.

I saw it on the IP Office Knowledge Base, it the online version of the Documentation CD but is updated regularly rather than just as the big GA releases.

It requires an Avaya ARA account for access. The guys in Welwyn want it to be open access for all but Avaya have their 'web standards'.

You know, that really steams me up. How on earth are we supposed to do the best possible job with this gear unless they give us access to ALL available docs? If it weren't for this forum, most of us would be stuck shooting in the dark!

*sigh*

And thanks for that 'Y' gem, I know just the client who would benefit from that, using carrier provided account codes which are mandatory for all LD dialing, but wants certain analog modems, faxes, etc. to be excempt.

Incredible...
What is these kind of special access : ARA account.
We were beta testers for the CCC when it was developped and I've never heard about this ARA account ?
Could you tell me more ?
I look after new doc or firmwares each day cause of many bugs that I report to the french channel CoE.
But if docs and known issues are not available in public access, I stop tomorrow...
