Pathfinder question

I have drawn two paths. One is a circle and the other is a straight line. The line overlaps the circle and is quite thick. I want to be able to delete the pieces of the line on the outside of the circle, and I want the remaining ends of the line to follow the contour of the outside of the circle. I cannot remember how to do this. Can someone help. Thanks.

The line (stroke) will have to be converted to an outline first, I can't visualize what you want done but that is a first step.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

You might be better to draw a box the thickness of the stroke you have now and fill it with whatever colour you want and then drag the nodes out at the end of the box so they curve to match the circle
