Path setting in Redhat 8.0

I am getting a problem with redhat 8.0
when I set the java_home path and export it
the error message says path not valid
I used j2sdk 1.41 and set the home at
/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/bin

and when I run tomcat I get the message,
java_home not found

this was working fine in 7.3
any ideas?
